As you may already know, school buses are used to transport children from different places to the schools they attend. This is what is popularly known as the school route in many parts of the World, although conventional buses or coaches are used in many countries. But the countries like the United States and Canada, use buses specially designed for this purpose.
You undoubtedly know the famous and famous yellow American school bus. This school transport bus is one of the essential elements of the roads of North America. In addition to its main function of transporting schoolchildren, it has for several decades found another function to the delight of the public. Focus on the most loved bus in the world, the American school bus.
The need to use these buses arose from the lack of means of transportation connecting various areas, especially rural areas, with schools. Public transport was scarce and, as you can imagine, unsafe, especially for the youngest members of the family. Although it is true that there are currently many countries and schools that offer this service, the trend grew -it was not born- in the United States.
At the end of the 19th century, most kids walked to school, but the luckier ones and the wealthier mainly- occasionally resorted to horse-drawn carriages. These carriages used to transport approximately 20 children, who entered the carriage through a rear door so as not to scare the horses.
Among the most noteworthy standards, it is worth highlighting the establishment of a standard length and height, the width of the aisle, and the comfort of the seats. Most of these standards have changed a lot since then, but there is something that has survived over time, the mythical yellow color of their bodywork, which makes them an American icon.
Officially, the color used on the buses is called National School Bus Chrome, and it has a lot in common with New York’s taxicabs. In the case of buses, black letters on a yellow background were the easiest to detect in low light conditions, with yellow being a very striking color capable of being distinguished from a distance.
As soon as these standards were established, the various school districts began to purchase and operate their own fleets. As the number of students increased, the size of buses also grew exponentially, with each generation adapting to new federal safety regulations as well as new stricter emissions standards.
